Programs & Services
Inspire Continuing Care (“ICC”)
- Community-based Day Program – Inspire Continuing Care began operating in August 2021, providing community-based opportunities for uniquely qualified adults who have completed high school. Participants engage in a wide variety of community and on-site activities that teach and/or reinforce practical life skills, including: social/community skills, communication, decision-making, cooking, functional money skills, orientation/mobility skills. ICC is open M-F, 7:30am – 5:00pm.
- Summer Program – the ICC Summer Program (4 weeks) provides an opportunity for additional participants to experience the community-based and on-site opportunities provided at ICC in a hybrid rotation of typical activities. The intention is for the summer program to be a recurring, annual opportunity.
- Identified growth areas currently under development include:
- Respite Care Services – will provide a respite opportunity for families of higher needs adults who may or may not be full-time participants of ICC, as well as providing social connection opportunities for adults who have other commitments that preclude them from full-time participation. Respite care would be available: Saturday 8:00am – 12:00pm (1x/mo); Friday 5:00pm – 9:00pm (1x/mo)
- “Welcome Wednesdays” – Weekly ICC attendance option for adults with higher physical needs and/or those who have other commitments that preclude them from full-time participation but would benefit from the social connection opportunities provided at ICC.
- Parent Support Community – ICC is working with local families to share our beautiful lounge and kitchen as a welcoming location to gather and share encouragement, tips and resources with one another to develop a solid support community for parents and family members of uniquely qualified children and adults.
- Community Education Programs – Quarterly parent training seminars provide outreach to the community as a whole, for families of uniquely qualified children of ALL ages. Some possible topics may include:
- State of IL funding models for adults with special needs
- Federal funding models for adults with special needs
- Legal issues: guardianship, special needs trust, etc.
- Resource fair: respite providers, extracurricular opportunities etc.
Inspire Vocational Care (“IVC”)
- Vocational Support Services – Inspire Vocational Care (IVC) will offer post-high school adults with vocational support services, continuing the support structure they experienced while attending Geneseo Schools.
- Vocational support services is an emerging area of growth identified for Inspire, creating an opportunity to provide services to a large percentage of the special needs community in Geneseo.
- A recent poll of special education professionals in our community revealed that 89% of their current students will benefit from post-high school vocational support services.
